Da der Patentschutz auf den Wirkstoff Baclofen schon lange abgelaufen ist, wird das Medikament nicht mehr ausschließlich unter dem Handelsnamen Lioresal® sondern auch als Generikum vertrieben.

Dabei sind Wirkunterschiede zwischen den einzelnen Generika theoretisch möglich, da die Wirkstoffkonzentration bei Generika zwischen 80% und 125% des Originals liegen darf. Daher könnte es Unterschiede in der Bioverfügbarkeit geben. Meines Wissens schwankt das aber in der Praxis bei den renommierten Herstellerfirmen kaum, vielleicht mal +/- 5 Prozent.

Trotzdem gibt es immer wieder Patienten, die eine bestimmte Marke nicht vertragen. Das kann aber mitunter auch an den sonstigen Bestandteilen der Tablette liegen (z. B. Weizenstärke, Lactose,...), die zum Teil allergische Reaktionen/Intoleranzen hervorrufen können. Hier ist eine Liste mit den Inhaltsstoffen der einzelnen Hersteller.
